IN OUR VIEW: Human rights refer to the "basic rights and freedoms to which all humans are entitled." Rights and freedoms including civil and political rights; such as the right to life and liberty, freedom of expression, and equality before the law; and economic, social and cultural rights. These are man's indelible rights and must be defended.
The Near East region of the globe, in part because of its geopolitical, demographic, and economic dynamics is experiencing unprecedented turmoil. The resultant breaches of human rights in the region can in large part be attributed to the proliferation of Islamic extremism. Although the region as a whole is affected, contempt for and violation of human rights in Iran is the most significant as Iran is the only country in which radical extremists successfully in instituted Sharia law, misogyny, and other oppressive concepts in every aspect and institution of society.
Enabling democracy, human rights, and freedom in the region requires considerable effort towards confronting Iranian cleric's particularly virulent /expansionist world view. In this pursuit, international law and international human rights laws must serve as our primary compass.

Campaign for Human Rights
Sept. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At a briefing in the US House of Representatives, the Near East Human Rights Initiative (NEHRI) announced plans to send a humanitarian fact-finding mission to Camp Ashraf, Iraq, home to 3,500 Iranian dissidents.
Col. Dr. Gary Morsch, US Army Reservist and President of Heart to Heart International, who chaired the briefing, said, "Having had the privilege of serving in Ashraf, I feel embarrassed that my fellow soldiers simply stood by and did nothing to prevent the carnage at Ashraf. Our government has both the moral and legal obligation to protect the residents of Ashraf. The 36 who have been taken hostage by Iraqi police must be freed."
